This comprehensive 5-day training course provides a detailed understanding of payroll management and the intricacies of statutory deductions within the Kenyan context. The course will cover the legal and regulatory framework governing payroll in Kenya, the processes for setting up and managing employee records, and the accurate calculation of gross pay and allowances. A significant focus will be placed on the calculation and remittance procedures for Pay As You Earn (PAYE), National Social Security Fund (NSSF), and National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) contributions, which are mandatory statutory deductions in Kenya. Participants will also learn about other statutory and voluntary deductions that may apply in Kenya. The course will further cover payroll processing, reporting requirements, record-keeping best practices, and explore emerging trends in payroll management within the Kenyan environment.
The training will begin by introducing the fundamental principles of payroll management and providing an overview of the statutory deductions specific to Kenya. Participants will then delve into the legal and regulatory framework that governs payroll practices in Kenya, including relevant labor laws and tax regulations. The course will cover the essential steps for setting up and maintaining accurate employee records crucial for payroll processing in Kenya. Participants will learn how to calculate gross pay, various types of allowances, and the factors that influence these amounts under Kenyan employment terms. A significant portion of the training will focus on the detailed calculation and the correct procedures for remitting Pay As You Earn (PAYE) to the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA). Similarly, the course will provide in-depth knowledge on calculating and remitting both employer and employee contributions to the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) in compliance with Kenyan regulations. The calculation and remittance processes for the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) contributions, another mandatory statutory deduction in Kenya, will also be thoroughly covered. Participants will also learn about other potential statutory deductions, such as housing levy, and voluntary deductions that may be applicable in Kenya. The course will then cover the end-to-end payroll processing cycle, reporting requirements to relevant authorities in Kenya, and best practices for maintaining accurate payroll records.
